How to capture Doubel Clicks from a List Component?

Howdy,
I have a Applet containging List component.
I am trying to capture Doubel Click notifications from the List.
I don't seem to get any, I tried mouseDown and handleEvent
in the Applet.
I even subclassed the List and tried to capture the mouseDown
List seem not to get any events at all!
Is this a but in AWT? Do any one have a working example?
I will really really appreciate any help on this.
