Andrew and Arshad:
Take a look at the following URL:
http://www.algonet.se/~etoile/p1/index.html
Vincent Engineering is working on an Oracle JAVA client that would
use the Java socket interfaces to go direct to Oracle servers rather
than using http interfacing.
Should permit high performance client-server interactions between
java enabled WWW browsers and oracle servers. Useful for OLTP type
interactions where HTTP won't do the trick. (HTTP interfaces would
perform much better for large numbers of anonymous users like on
the net.)

Arshad,
Oracle have just released 3 products:
- - Oracle Web Server
- - Oracle Web Listener
- - Oracle Web Agent
The Web Agent is the important component, it allows Oracle stored procedures
to be executed via HTML (not sure about java ?). This allows the power of
PL/SQL in the stored procedures to access the database etc. and allows HTML
(java ?) to be used for the presentation services.
