Hi,
I've got a couple of questions about the pre-beta release which I hope
somebody could answer...
I'm currently developing a highly graphical application using the Alpha3
release. I'd like to move to the pre-beta release so that I can use the
cleaned up AWT. However, I'm also using native methods. As far as I can
see, the pre-beta release appears to have a number of classes missing from
java.util, including the dynamic linker. Can I re-compile the source from
Alpha3 or isn't it that simple?
This brings me to the main question. Just who is the pre-beta release aimed at?
From the documentation I get the impression it's primarily intended for
people developing applets (you can't link C into applets). Is this simply a
reflection of the market Sun's aiming Java at or are people developing
stand-alone applications better off using Alpha3?
Thanks for your help,
Robert Lougher.
