I'm trying to implement a java application which reads information from
an http server which requires a username/passwd.
When accessing the site from a netscape viewer a separate window is popped
up asking for the information when i try to access the data.

When trying to access the data using java i was using the HttpClient
class, but i get a net.www.http.UnauthorizedHttpRequestException .

I'm guessing that this may be a netscape proprietary access control mechanism?
Does anyone else have any experience to share? How else could i do this?

the URL in question is , http://www.esi.co.uk/free/home.html

thanks,

steve
