Well if I ever get a chance to sit down and try and figure them
out... (grrr)...
There are some objects for doing client-server programming in the
framework. If they are operational you could build a java program to
provide and manage messaging between itself and it's currently open
clients.
Pretty neat stuff. I kinduv like the idea of having client/server
objects and not necessarily relying on DO as in NeXTStep. I think DO
is overkill for many application concepts or at least we're not ready
for DO-based systems with the kind of functionalities that most
people are building now. With the advent of agents this would
change.
But then I'm digressing... check out the application framework called
'net' and look under NetworkServer and NetworkClient. You could
always use Socket too but... yecch!
Also... please let me know if you get any results! My sources will
go up on the net in the usual place (http://www.cs.sonoma.edu/Java)
if I get them to work.
