I read Glen's long email on the future of
Java and loved it! Great job Glen!! I hope
some at SUN will take many of your
suggestions.
I am also evangelizing and developing in
Java. I have also switched over some
projects at work to do them in Java.
Also, I am writing a book on Java that
will be published by John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
The book is by a programmer and for programmers.
Although I like programming in C and
C++. I like Java better. I also am sick and
tired of unreliable apps. I will gladly
give up pointers, operator overloading,
multiple inheritance, etc. to reduce the
percentage of buggy apps!
One thing I would suggest to the Java team is
a little better job updating their web pages.
I check them every week or so but they are
always the same. It gives the appearance that
NOTHING is happening with java.
It will also be great to have some more
specific dates on the porting efforts. I have
heard "soon" since May for the Windows 95 and
Mac OS port. Please anything other than "soon."
How about giving us a target month?
Anyway, let's not just look to Sun to do
everything. We need to turn up the
evangelizing ourselves. After all, there
is strength in numbers.
