as the one who triggerred all this -- thanks for the precise
references, I'll go dig them up. The quote was originally posted on
the list where many of the members are quite sure that efforts to
erode Constitutional protections are out of malice, not stupidity, and
take it personally (because they are an "unpopular" group and thus one
in need of protections from the "tyranny of the majority"...)
