Well, the fall term is over. I think I did pretty decently on my 2
classes (Machine Learning, Programming Languages), which is good. I
didn't get too terribly far on my thesis, which is bad, but I got the
proposal turned in, yay. Job interviews are going OK; I've gotten a
number of second-round interviews, and more are coming up. I just
wished that jobs, like school admissions, could be required to have
all their offers outstanding during some single time period -- this
has been an issue already, a couple of people have said they were
ready to tender an offer within a few weeks, and I've been trying to
get them to hold off since the offers wouldn't be open for more than a
couple of weeks once extended.

It'll be a busy winter break. In addition to several on-site
interviews already lined up, I'll be spending 4-5 days in Dallas TX at
the APO national convention (as one of 2 voting delegates from the MIT
chapter), and I plan on flying down to LA to visit my sister, who's
been out of school and employed here and there in the theater/TV
production industry for the last year and a half.

These a lot. These some more. (I don't get back until January 10, though.)

Replacing the long story about my bicycle woes is a short story.
Several weeks ago while riding home, my left rear fork sheared,
bringing me to a dramatic (but fortunately still standing) stop. So
I'm left with just my two feet for transportation until I take the
bicycle in some place and see if a welder can fix it or if he or she
will just shake their head sadly.

So I'm walking through the desert
and I'm not frightened although it's hot
I have all that I requested

		Entrance
		--------

Whoever you are: in the evening step out
	of your room, where you know everything;
yours is the last house before the far-off:
	whoever you are.
With your eyes, which in their weariness
barely free themselves from the worn-out threshold,
you lift very slowly one black tree
and place it against the sky: slender alone.
And you have made the world. And it is huge
and like a word which grows ripe in silence.
And as your will seizes on its meaning,
tenderly your eyes let it go ...

				-Rainer Maria Rilke

yev_g (Yevgeny Gurevich):

I have a NEW plan. Here it is:
	Take over the world
	Drink lots of Coke
	Distribute Bricklayer worldwide
	Sleep

I haven't been too successful. :(
