Okay, I submit that you have missed the entire point of what I was
saying.

First: Yes, I am less comfortable with your second statement. My point
was that in most cases, men kill and rape women. Men are, in general,
privileged over women. It is not the case that usually blacks rape and
kill whites. Whites are, in general, privileged over blacks. The cases
are not the same. Don't twist my words.

Second: As a white, heterosexual middle class American, I have fought
against many of the injustices that you've mentioned; but I still will
not say that a working class latina lesbian who doesn't know me from
Jesse Helms has no right to distrust me.

And third: What you call hyperbole is my life. Does it sound ridiculous?
Does it seem farfetched, outdated? It is. But it's still the way things
are. And you have still not explained why you think it's more important
for the privileged members of society to be treated very very fairly
than it is for everyone else to be treated just a little more like
humans.

I don't want to take my statement of priorities any further. Don't
assume I do. But I don't think you can make me believe that your
feelings are more important than my life, or my sister's or mother's or
friends' lives.

Philosophy will not make anyone hurt any less. Don't pretend it makes up
for anything.
