"Most of the dogmatic religions have exhibited a perverse talent for taking

dkk (David K Krikorian):
What follows is my favorite poem. I unearthed it just now (3/10/92),
while cleaning up my room.
I first saw this poem on the door of Random Hall room 434 during the
summer of 1983 (or perhaps '82). The occupant of the room was a
one-summer-only resident who I think I never met. At the end of the
summer, I rescued the poem from the trash. What I have appears to be
a copy of a type-written page. I don't know of any other copies, and
I have no idea who the author might be. (I've reproduced the poem
exactly, except for three obviously-misspelled words ("tod", "for" and
"stange"), which I've put (corrected) in brackets[].)
NOTE: I wouldn't recommend reading this when you're depressed.

"A Reading in Unlove"
Once on a yellow paper with green lines he wrote a poem
And called it "CHOPS" because that was the name of his dog
And that's what it was all about.
And his teacher gave him an A and a gold star
And his mother hung it on the kitchen door and read it to all his aunts.
And that was the year Father Tracy took all the kids to the zoo and let
them sing on the bus.
And that was the year his baby sister was born with tiny fingernails
and no hair.
And his mother and father kissed a lot
And the girl around the corner sent him a valentine filled with kisses.
And his father always tucked him into bed at night and he was always
there to do it.
Once on white paper with green lines he wrote a poem
And called it "Autumn" because that's what the name of the season was.
And that's what it was all about.
And his teacher gave him an A and told him to write more clearly.
And his mother never hung it on the kitchen door because the door had
just been painted
And the kids told him Father Tracy smoked cigars and left butts on the
pew
And the girl around the corner laughed when he went to see Santa Claus
at Macy's.
And the kids [told] him why his parents kissed a lot.
And his father never tucked him into bed at night
And he cried for him to do it.
Once on paper torn [from] his notebook he wrote a poem
And he called it "Question Mark - Innocence" because that was the
name of his girl
And that's what it's all about.
And his professor gave him an A and a [strange] steady look
And his mother never hung it on the kitchen door because he never
showed it to her
And that was the year Father Tracy died and he forgot how the Apostles'
Creed went
And caught his sister necking on the back porch
And his father never kissed anymore and never talked
And the girl around the corner wore too much make-up
and that made him cough when he kissed her--but he kissed her anyway.
And at 3 AM he tucked himself into bed--his father snoring loudly.
That's why on the back of a pack of matches he tried another poem
And he called it "Absolutely Nothing" because that's what it was all about.
And he gave himself an A and a slash on each damp wrist
And he hung it on the bathroom door because he couldn't reach the kitchen.

enigma (CDE):
look is out of age
both are swell from a northern sky
smile on their faces they entered their doom
but they knew that
if the world should end they won't care about that anyway
ooooo
I take the water and I run the fire
your blue chemicals making their doom
like you knew
if the world should end you won't care about that anyway
maybe that's the way you live, but you don't know
life - it don't always live that way
jade, shade of pain, and then we die
jade, shade of pain, and then we die
jade, shade of pain, and then we die
but that's just the way
baby that's just the way you live your life,
you see, you don't always live that way
jade, shade of pain, and then we die
jade, shade of pain, and then we die(oh why?)
jade, shade of pain, and then we die
maybe that's the way, but it don't always live that way
Now that I understand beauty of a ;asldkfj
let hand me down when you need a place to live and no one understands you
and all you want to do is to cry aloud,
but you don't know how
no way, no one, no one understands
the hammer strikes when just the torch of love is all a problem needed
when you hurt someone so much that still they cry love in you
and all you want to do is to cry aloud,
but you don't know how
jade
Jade! a shade of pain! and then and then we die
Jade, a shade of pain, and then and then we die
but you've got to know how
stead of try somehow
but you don't know how
but you try somehow
and when we die
we will find a way, lettin' the sun go down
maybe we'll find a way holdin' the sun
we will find a way, letting out life go by
I tell you we will find a way , holdin' the sun

mhbraun (Matthew Braun):
Can anybody find me Somebody to love?
Each morning I get up, I die a little, can't barely stand on my feet.
(Take a look at yourself in the mirror and cry, yeah, yeah)
Take a look in the mirror and cry, Lord, what you're doing to me.
I have spent all my years in believing you, but I just can't get no relief,
Lord, Somebody, somebody, can anybody find me Somebody to love?
I work hard (he works hard) ev'ry day of my life, I work till I ache my bones.
At the end (At the end of the day) I take home my hard earned pay
all on my own.
I get down on my knees and I start to pray 'til the tears run down from my eyes
Lord, somebody, (somebody) somebody (somebody) can anybody find me
Somebody to love?
(He wants help) Ev'ryday (ev'ryday) I try and I try and I try,
But ev'rybody wants to put me down,
they say I'm goin' crazy. They say I got a lot of water in my brain,
got no common sense. I got nobody left to believe. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
(instrumental)
Ooh, somebody, somebody, can anybody find me somebody to love?
(Anybody find me someone to love)
Got no feel, I got no rhythm, I just keep losing my beat.
(You just keep losing and losing.) I'm O.K. I'm alright, (He's alright:||)
Ain't gonna face no defeat.
I just gotta get out of this prison cell,
One day I'm gonna be free, Lord.
Find me somebody to love, Find me somebody to love, Find me somebody to love,
Find me somebody to love, Find me somebody to love, Find me somebody to love,
Find me somebody to love, Find me somebody to love, Find me somebody to love,
Find me somebody to love, Somebody, Somebody, Somebody, Somebody, Somebody,
Find me somebody, Find me somebody to love.
Can anybody find me, Somebody to love.
Find me somebody to love! Find me somebody to love!
Find me find me find me find me.
