Actually, I was goint to explain it after I saw Mark's posting (but
before I saw yours..)
nm stands for Nautical Mile. 1 Knot = 1 nm/hour
1 nm ~= 1.15 statute miles (i.e., what you think of when you
think of a mile)
850nm is approximately a flight from Boston to Atlanta or Orlando,
just to give you a reference.... (CLE->MIA is about 1100 nm)
Anything else I can explain? :-)
