Would it be possible to check that new entries differ from their old entries by something other than login/logout info? A program could look for dates or the words "logout", "logged", "login" or other variations and if it fits a pattern, it doesn't include the user in that day's ca entry. Add one to the "No jinx, no wslee logout info."
