alchen (Alice Chen):
( the stage is partially lit... as there is a softly backlit monitor....
the images that fade in and fade out are of clowns...snarling and smiling
somehow the imagery blending between the two ... almost if there is a
before and after shot... showing a merry, jolly, exuberant malice. )
( Figure steps out wearing black save for white gloves ... something
red glistens of them... something sticky, like a sap, and fresh...)
( it is the job of the Figure to render the spoken word into Amslan )
( The lights dim as a second figure steps out, dressed in a clown suit...
)
i was walking last night. in a poorly lit park. thinking.
just walking and thinking, when i came upon a man, who was walking
with his hands. he kept on walking with his hands. and i asked why
he was doing this.
he got up off of the ground.
he looked me in the eye.
he began to speak.
what he said was this:
" in my life i have found that i have two gifts. gifts in my hands.
the one hand "
( shows hand to the audience )
" i have death on a leash. that's right. death. on a leash. straining.
and in the other, i have all the love in the world."
( shows the other hand...)
" all of it. in the world. "
( turns to face the screen, and a microphone carries the sound of his voice
to the front of the stage...)
" and there are three types of people who come to me."
" the first type of person are those in a lot of pain. and they want death.
death on a leash. "
" the secound type of person are those in a lot of pain. and they want all
the love in the world. that's right. all of it. in the world. "
" but the third type of person are those in a lot of pain. and they don't
want anything from me. "
" but i have these gifts. i can give them what they want. with these hands.
either death "
( gestures )
" or all the love in the world. "
( gestures )
" such a decision. such contemplation. and do you know what? have you an idea?"
( turns )
" they don't want what i have to give. they're not ready for it. they can't
handle the shock. "
" so that is why i sheath my hands, and walk the way i do. "
( the light dims on the outline of a crucifix in the back of the monitor.
possibly there all the time, or just now visible. the decision is left up
to the viewer, the audience. )

brlewis (Bruce R Lewis):
[1991 - Five years ago I had a part-time job as a secretary for the
department head of Applied Biological Sciences. Payroll errors delayed
my paycheck for about a month. Jennifer was a B.U. student who also
worked there. The murf (or murph) is pika's living room.]
9 October 1986 2:53 p.m.
Sometimes not a lot goes on at the office; sometimes a lot of work
comes at once. My paycheck has been delayed another week. Next week I
should get $96.
Everything has cleared up at this point. My surprising good score
on the chem exam made 2 weeks of problem sets disappear. My strict
scheduling has gotten me caught up otherwise. I now have time to
row (10 hr/wk commitment)
work (5)
sleep (50)
veg in the murf (5 during weekdays)
At first a schedule seemed inflexible, but getting things done
leaves me time for unplanned things. I have time this afternoon to fill
in for Jennifer who has a paper to do and is under stress.

starflt (Derrick Kong):
THERE'S SAFETY IN NUMBERS
In Chaosium's Ringworld Companion, an alien weapon called the "NAX
gun" can be traverse-fired across an area, dividing its damage among all
targets. Unfortunately, the rule is worded so that any group of 11 or
more targets is invulnerable to harm.

therese (Therese):
Bits and pieces, bits and pieces.
People.
People important to you, people unimportant to you cross your
life. Touch it with love and carelessness and move on.
There are people who leave you and you breathe a sigh of relief
and wonder why you ever came into contact with them.
There are people who leave you and you breathe a sigh of remorse
and wonder why they had to go away and leave such a gaping hole.
Children leave parents; friends leave friends, acquaintances
grow apart.
Enemies hate and move on.
Friends love and move on.
You think of the many who have moved into your hazy memory.
You look on those present and wonder.
I believe in God's master plan in life. He moves people in and
out of each other's lives, and each leaves his mark on the
other. You find you are made up of bits and pieces of all who
ever touched your life, and you are more because of it, and you
would be less if they had not touched you.
Pray to God that you accept the bits and pieces, in humility and
wonder, and never question and never regret.
Bits and pieces, bits and pieces.

tom (Tom Coppeto):
Hi. I'm Bob and I am a viking.
Nobody can be like me. Even I have trouble doing it.
It's quite peculiar in a funny sort of way.
They think its funny everything I say.
If I couldn't see you naked
I might as well be blind.
Everybody's got a song to sing.
Everybody's got to do their thing.
