bjaspan (Barr3y Jaspan):

A particular department at Cornell has some IBM RS/6000 workstations.
Recently, a pipe in the ceiling of the room housing the machines
burst. When the problem was discovered, one particular RS/6000
POWERstation 320 was already somewhat full of water and *still
running*. The treatment was to turn it off, pour out the water, and
let it dry.

The keyboard was completely soaked and had to be put to death,
however. :-)

(For the record, I received this story first-hand from someone who was
using the machine in question.)

Itinerary:

5/15 - 5/18: Finish the paper I didn't get done before I left. Start it
first, and then finish it, maybe.

5/14 - 5/20: Clean up my apartment (yecch), and pack up and send all my
worldly goods to either California or Boston. Work at OCIS
and set up the documentations people for the summer.

5/20 - 6/3: Hang out in Southern California, lying on Monarch Beach and
visiting with old friends. Play copious amounts of basketball.

5/22 - 5/24: Get a ride up to Berkeley and see a friend graduate, maybe?

6/3 - ?: Fly back out to Boston and (hopefully) start work. Anybody
know of a cheap way to get from Houston or California to Boston,
one way? Hitchhiking is probably too slow...

If you are a member of CMU security or administration, please stop
reading now. Thank you.

Now, I wouldn't know anything about this, understand, but if you
happen to be in Pittsburgh, and you happen to be on the CMU campus,
and you happen to be on Forbes Avenue, and you happen to look up at
the roof of Wean hall, you might happen to notice that *somebody* (I
don't know who) had hung a 10 ft. byt 10 ft. wizard logo off one of
the ledges.

Must have been one of those roving bands of vandalous WOSAT fans.

BTW, could somebody send me Mike JIttlov's snail-mail address, I would
like to send him a picture of this obviously natural phenomenon

I plan to see these TNG episodes, the only ones I have not yet seen:

	"We'll Always Have Paris"	[41697.9]

If you have them on tape, I'd love to hear from you :-).

Meanwhile back in the Year One - when you belonged to no-one -
You didn't stand a chance son, if your pants were undone.
'Cause you were bred for Humanity and sold to Society -
One day you'll wake up in the Present Day -
A million generations removed from expectations
Of being who you really want to be.

     Skating Away-ay! Skating Away-ay!
Skating Away-ay on the Thin Ice of the New Day-ay-ay-ay-ay.
     Ay-ay-ay-ay!

So as you push off from the shore, won't you turn your head once more -
And make your peace with everyone?
For those who choose to stay, will live just one more day -
To do the things they should have done.
And as you cross the wilderness, spinning in your emptiness:
You feel you have to pray.
Looking for a sign that the Universal Mind(!)
Has written you into the Passion Play.

     Skating Away-ay! Skating Away-ay!
Skating Away-ay on the Thin Ice of the New Day-ay-ay-ay-ay.
     Ay-ay-ay-ay!

And as you cross the Circle Line, well, the ice-wall creaks behind -
You're a rabbit on the run.

And the silver splinters fly in the corner of your eye -
     Shining in the setting sun.
Well, do you ever get the feeling that the Story's too damn real and in
         the present tense?
Or that everybody's on the stage, and it seems like
You're the only person sitting in the audience?

     Skating Away-ay! Skating Away-ay!
Skating Away-ay on the Thin Ice of the New Day-ay-ay-ay-ay.
     Ay-ay-ay-ay!

     Skating Away-ay!
     Skating Away-ay!
     Skating Away!

sker (Mic.O.):

I am Michael Arthur Orlosky.
I was born on the twenty-ninth of February in 1972.
I am going to be a sophomore at the Massachusetts
                                    Institute of
				    Technology.
situated in lovely

 c a m b r i d g e m a s s a c h u s e t t s .

I am an undesignated student, which means I have no major. I perhaps
will choose to study Visual Arts because I want to design beautiful
things, like X-pensive, X-otic, X-cellent automobiles.

I am six feet tall. I think I might weigh around 219 lbs.
I have red hair that is quite short. I used to have a small beard,
but it was shaved in conjunction with an art video project. I have decided
not to let it grow back because, HEY it is the Summer, right?
My eyes are a faraway grey tinged with blue as if frozen in time.
Yes my skin is freckled, but not as much as when I was younger.
The best parts of my body are my all purpose hands, followed by my strong
legs. The worst would be my stomach and poorly defined chin.

I enjoy all of the following things X-cept one:

**Music
-by these and other creators of it.
 NitzerEbb	RedHotChiliPeppers
 Green Day	Operation Ivy
 Front242 DagNasty
 BeastieBoys Minor Threat
KMFDM (which stands for Keine Mehrit Fur Die Meitled)
(which means No Pity For The Majority)
 Fishbone	Tangerine Dream
 NineInchNails

**Ice Hockey. I am a Philadelphia Flyers fan, and I play right wing/center.
**Rollerhockey. I have no favorite team aside from the one I might be on at
any given time, and again I am a right wing.
**Soccer. I am a soccer fan in general. I love to play. Position: GoalKeeper
**Life all alone.
**The Charles River at night, even if it is chilly.
**Hugs and kisses.
**Close Friends.

Guess which one I am not happy with.

I am originally from Johnstown, New York. Johnstown is a small town of less
than ten thousand people which is located one hour west of Albany, and
two hours east of Syracuse. I was not happy there, and I enjoy the city
of Boston very much.

I have a sister named Dana who will be attending Notre Dame this fall.
I have a brother named Rick who is eleven years old. He shows some
tremendous artistic talent.

I would describe myself with these terms:

thoughtful kind obsessive critical oversensitive confused troubled
interested caring naive visual introspective lonely impressible
simple irrational rash compassionate polite difficult IMPULSIVE

As for the future, I look to it with a hidden smile and hope.
I'll just not think too hard about the details for now. =]

*====================SIDE NOTE
* Warsaw Ghetto is a song by Nitzer Ebb.
* Nitzer Ebb is a cyberpunk, technobody, synthcore industrial dance duo
* of Doug McCarthy and Bon Harris from England. The song is harsh,
* rhythmic, and aggressive. It speaks of pain.

If there is anything else you want or feel you need to know, ask me!
