hey, barry ... have you had occasion to use your badge number yet?
nothing quite like having a temporary badge number; it's a stigma all
in itself (you call the payroll people, and when they ask for your
badge number you tell them "it's T01167" and they go "Oh. That's
different. Please hold for half an hour more.")
it would appear that most other parts of DEC don't understand temporary
badge numbers, either. they're more honest about it, though: "your
badge number has a 'T' in it, and i don't know what that means..."
at least i didn't have to be indoctrinated (kinda like being
vaccinated, i guess).
be consoled that it ends in a few months, and then you can say you had
a fabulous time.
