I used to work for a private weather firm in New Jersey (Ion Weather, at
Morristown Airport to be exact) that did a fair amount of forensic
meteorology. Usually the issue would be someone slipped, and they sued
whoevers sidewalk it was saying that it was covered with ice. The
forensic meteorology involved was determining whether conditions were
such that the sidewalk could have been icy at the time.
