Also, there are some people who are now hacking on endgame theory directly... like ALL 4 and 5 piece and games... I'm still impressed with David Levy's chess machine. It beat Cray BLITZ hands down, the first time it competed. 45 moves a second (vs cray's 1Million?) from an Apple 2. The trick: It's David Levy's program. They are the RIGHT 45 moves.
