Minutes of Exec Comm (Sept 3, 1996)
Administrative notes:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Start: 7:35 pm; End: 8:15 pm. Present: Alexis, Sparky, Yale, Joe K,
John Hollywood, Oscar, Kevin, Ingrid, Hannah, Cathy, Emily, Jeffrey,
Lan
Discussion:
~~~~~~~~~~
Emily: We are having exec comm meetings in places other than the
office because I would like us to use them for talking about issues in
the chapter. This would include reviewing legislation before presenting
it to the chapter.
Next Chapter meeting, anything that people would like to talk about?
Alexis: I would like to talk about a committee for recycling.
Emily: Perhaps for a later chapter meeting. Current things to talk
about include Junior Officer elections. I would like to have a shorter
meeting this time.
Lan: You can try to cut down on repetition.
Ingrid: There needs to be a happy medium.
John: I would suggest not talking about issues around the offices and
concentrate on electing people.
Hannah: How about we tell potential candidates to write articles?
John: Can we find a way to close nominations after some point?
Yale: You could do so, but it could cause problems later.
Emily: We should do stuff about Trinidad
Alexis: Can we bring it up and discuss having a Trinidad committee
meeting?
Emily: Yes, we can have people meet after the chapter meeting to
schedule a meeting.
Kevin: Have you checked on renewing standing policies?
Emily: No, I will check on that
Lan: We are doing surveys during LSC movies to see who wants car-
nival and what they would like to see. We printed 900 surveys, and we
expect a 10% return rate. I could present the results to the chapter.
Emily: Ok, give us a carnival report
Yale: What is the status of the Wellesley petitioning group?
Emily: They went away for the summer, and we think they will charter
this fall.
Sparky: Depending on how many can go to Nationals, they could try
to do that there.
Emily: Ok. Now to discuss things during this term. Nationals is this
term, and Ellen wants to come discuss all about Nationals. We have
a few people want to go, some as voting delegates. We could choose
delegates in October.
Ingrid: I want to go and chair a committee.
Yale: You can also put off choosing delegates until you find out who
is going.
Emily: Legislation is due on the 20th of September and it will come
back in October for us too look over. If anyone has any ideas for
legislation, they can start working on it now. Nationals will be a topic
frequently durning the term.
Right now, I would like to know everyone's statuses, so we know what
needs PC's.
Alexis: I need PC's for everything, including the National Braille
Press.
Emily: I know that Ari needs help with the Open Meetings and the
Pledge Ceremonies. Anything else?
Oscar: Drop Poster prices increased to 20 cents per foot.
Meeting Adjourned at 8:15
