Option 0 sounds best; it might help if we changed the server to *not*
reread all of the files in the map, it would probably be much faster
(maybe if we had a debugging sub-tree that did cause rereading that
would help development... of course, the easy way to do debugging is
to just run perl -e 'do "foo.pl"; &do_foo("?search");' directly.)
