What kind of information would you like?
For the Mac, there are basically 4 choices:
o NCSA Mosaic 1.xx
This is the released version of Mosaic for the mac. It's ,missing
tons o' features. Due to be replaced RSN. Old, slow, etc. Not
worth your time unless you really want a supported product ASAP.
o NCSA Mosaic 2.00.00.alpha.xx
A very-recently-released alpha of the macintosh version of Mosaic
2.0, with forms support, etc. Faster, more featureful, hopefully
less buggy than 1.xx. This one has been a while in coming, and I
haven't seen the beta yet, but I hear it has some annoying new
behavior.
o MacWeb mumble.xx.alpha
This is an essentially new product, out in alpha now. Has many more
fetures than mac mosaic (forms support, for example), and is in
general much faster. Looks like a really nice product compared to
Mac Mosaic 1.xx; I've not seen it next to 2.anything yet.
o replace the mac with a better machine
Right now I still suggest a 486 running Linux. This gets you the
original, best (IMHO) version of Mosaic, and also Chimera, lynx,
viola (with some effort), w3, and some other stuff you don't care
about. You can also run your own server without too much trouble,
if you're into that. Additionally, you can get real network
support, kerberos, etc. (by next term, maybe even direct AFS
access!) Also, you get a machine that can boot and run Doom. :-)
I personally like the last option, but I suspect some other people
might not have the same set of requirements that I have. :-)
Of the native mac options, I'd go with MacWeb right now; it's slightly
less alpha than Mac Mosaic 2.xx, and seemed a lot faster when I used
it. Choosing anything but the first option, though, you should expect
some bugs (that's what alpha releases are for). Of course, choosing
the first option, you should also expect some bugs, since all the new
work has been going into 2.xx. :-)
