hesiod server?

I've been thinking about adding a way to do hesiod filsys lookups
through the web. This would make it much easier to get to lockers, for
example.

Something like:

/hesiod?lockername would produce a page which had the text of a URL
for the top level of the locker, wrapped in a reference so a click
would take you there. (Perhaps /hesiod/filsys?lockername, so we could
also have /hesiod/passwd?name et alii...)

/lockers/name (or /mit/name?) would indirect through hesiod, so for
example /lockers/eichin/www/home_page.html would get to my home page,
regardless of where in afs it was actually sitting.

This would simplify maintenance of an "interesting lockers" page...
and probably has some other creative use I haven't forseen.

I don't know the overhead issues for the current server -- would it
make more sense to fork hesinfo or to include Marc's nameserver
scripts to do the lookup directly?

If anyone else wants to run off with this, be my guest, but if not
I'll probably do it eventually.
