After I posted information on an open spot for a conference session (which has
since been filled), I received many requests regarding times, dates and
location for the expo. So here it is:
FINANCIAL TECHNOLOGY EXPO AND CONFERENCE EXPO
The Financial Technology Expo, hosted by three industry publications, Bank
Systems + Technology, Wall Street & Technology and Insurance & Technology, is
being held at the New York Hilton & Towers (6th Ave & 54th St.) on Wednesday,
Oct 25 and Thursday, Oct. 26th. The expo, in its fourth year, boasts 129
exhibitors and traditionally draws more than 3,000 attendees (mostly bank,
insurance and wall street executives).
This year, we've added a two-day conference component with 20 sessions and more
than 70 speakers, including keynote speaker Scott Cook, CEO of Intuit.
The expo is free and attendees may register on-site. Expo attendees may also
attend the Scott Cook address and breakfast, free of charge. The conference,
total cost, is $895 and can be paid on site as well. Attendees wishing to sign
up for just one or two individual sessions of the conference may do so for $199
each.
Below is the complete conference itinerary. Hope to see you there!

Seminars (Banking, Insurance and Securities/Investment Tracks)
The Financial Technology Expo will feature a conference component composed of
20 seminars spanning three financial services businesses: banking, insurance
and securities/
investment industries.
Session One: 9:45 - 11 a.m.
Seminar 101: Bounding Back: The New Age of Banking. Convergence of the
financial services businesses is forcing banks to identify their respective
market strengths and weaknesses, abandoning those products and services that do
not fit the institution's redefined market profile. As competitive threats
mount, banks must determine in what businesses they excel?as retail or
wholesale banks, commercial or investment banks, one-stop-shops or specialized
boutiques?and how investment in technology is playing a role in the control of
distribution channels. Moderator: Holly Sraeel, editor-in-chief, Bank Systems +
Technology.

National Practice Director for the Financial Services Industry
Deloitte & Touche LLP
Texas Commerce Tower, Suite 1600
Robert Christiansen
SVP/Chief Technology Officer

Seminar 102: Alternative Delivery Strategies for Insurers. The traditional
agent-oriented approach to selling, delivering and servicing insurance products
is being called into question as costs and commissions escalate, competitive
boundaries change, and technology enables new strategies. This session will
examine several different options?selling through banks, selling via direct
marketing (mail) and selling electronically. Moderator: Katherine Burger,
editor-in-chief, Insurance & Technology.
John Arant
SVP/Chief Sales Officer
Keyport Life Insurance Co.
Richard K. Berry

Seminar 103: Integrating the Buy-side/Sell-side: New Trends in Order
Management, Routing and Execution. Flexing the muscle of a trillion in assets,
buy-side investment firms are joining forces with sell-side brokers to create
industry standards to communicate trading information electronically between
brokers, buy side traders, markets and vendors. This session will examine the
efficiencies to be gained from linking both sides of the Street in terms of
order management; trade allocation, executions and portfolio accounting.

Seminar 201: Developing a Global Risk Management System. Globalization of
financial services and the speed with which transactions are conducted have
increased the need for systems that assess risk exposure. Systems on the market
today purport to gauge risk exposure globally across all products that are
traded. Is developing a real-time risk management system an unnecessary ideal,
or are the costs of doing so prohibitively high for financial institutions?
Experts discuss what's on the market and how to develop a global risk
management system to suit a firm's specific needs.

Seminar 202: Object-Oriented Technology: Building Tomorrow's Insurance Systems
Today. Insurance companies are under intense pressure to find faster and less
expensive ways to create and support new products and services. Rather than try
to make existing systems more efficient, a select but growing number of
insurers are taking the plunge into object orientation?a non-traditional
development approach that promises to help companies build more flexible
systems that truly reflect the business and requirements of users. Moderator:

clearance and settlement times, accounting for domestic/international
securities is growing increasingly complex. This session will take a look at
