Sorry, can't do this one in tlhIngan. There were three big expenses for
me in making a Klingon outfit. Well, four.
One: The forehead
Ran me about 80 bucks, due to the sheer kindness of a friend of mine who
wanted to learn how to do prosthetic foreheads. We made three molds of my
face, (not a fun process), and did a reverse cast of the final mold. He
built a clay forehead up, cast that, and finally did the latex casting, in
the oven of a friend who is good at it. Very very time consuming.
Two: Makeup
Had to buy makeup for me, since I'm as pale as they get. Including
pancake makeup (Didn't work for beans), cream makeup (much better),
fixier spray, sponges, brushes. And I didn't even get the right kind of
latex paint for the forehead itself, I pinch hit with castor oil and cream
make up. Oh yeah, two kinds of powder.
Three: Wig
Had to buy a wig (unlike Krankor) since I'm also quite blonde. Ran me
about 50 bucks, and that was *cheap*.
Four: Clothes
Spent about 60 bucks on the cloth, made some absolutely SPIFF Klingon
leisure wear. Great vest, vest, and so on. Pain in the neck, but that
looks great.
Total cost: Much bucks.
Sorry, but it's probably a lot better to get a pre-made forehead, and make
do. They don't look nearly as nice, but you have to be rich to get one
the other way. Or stupid. :)
