The third line doesn't flow quite as beautifully (but my lack of
confidence in my own expertise on stress is the reason I haven't been
commenting on that generally) In exchange it is clearer on all three
points: the thirst-enforced silence, the glorious reason for the
arm-biting and the sighting of the peculiar thing that seemed to be a
