I can come up with a couple of defensible reasons to prefer one way
or the other. They assume sentence semantics that are not set down
for us as rules, however, and I'm not planning to debate based on my
preferences. I'll just go with what seems right to me at the time,
expecting to be understood easily, and not worry about whether I'm
being biased by my native English.
