I've got two announcements to make:

First, for those subscribers who live in the Boston area, here's a
program note: Today, Monday, May 10, 1993, at 11pm on WCVB (Channel 5)
look for a story on the Klingon language on the local news featuring
our own grammarian, Captain Krankor.

Second, I have recently learned of a way to get a small number of
questions to Marc Okrand. I'm not at liberty to reveal the details of
this communications channel, but I think we ought to consider what
questions we might want to ask him. After a short period of discussion
(no more than 1 week) I'll pick a handful of the most pressing questions
and present them to Dr. Okrand.

To prime the pump, here's the list of potential questions I've already
compiled, based on recent list discussions and a bit of brain-storming
with Captain Krankor. Let's spend some time coming up with other
candidates, too.

"Tawk amongst yourselves..."

		 Potential Questions for Mark Okrand

(1) -ghach nominalizer. Can most verbs be nouned or only some? Can
-ghach be used on unmodified verbs?

(2) Can pronomial prefixes be used to indicate indirect objects when
    the meaning would be clear?

(3) Missing prepositions: with, around, near, far from, through, etc.

(4) "All the officers": Hoch yaS or yaS Hoch?
    (Same question for latlh)

(5) Comparitives: can you turn verbs into nouns with -ghach and use
them in comparitive sentences? Ex: How would you say: I am the
captain because I speak klingon better than you.

(6) Can you use 'e' in more diverse ways. (e.g. add noun suffixes?)
What about as the subject of the second sentence? (Ex: It makes me
    happy that the captain lives.)

(7) Doesn't the sentence "I'm still hoping he killed himself," imply
that in some cases, the second sentence in a two-sentence 'e' or
net construction might need to take an aspect?
    (i.e. would it be: HoH'eghpu' 'e' vItIvtaH)

(8) Where does the 'e' go in a sentence where a pronoun is used as a
verb when the subject is a complex noun? Ex: The captain and I
    are in the ship.

(9) What about metaphorical uses of prepositions, e.g.: "in klingon",
    "from monday to friday"

(10) How to express "should", "ought", "must", etc.

(11) How to express "too" something: too much, too few, too hot, too
     cold, etc.
