Subject: Administrivia: Temporary outage
When I went to power up village after last week's massive snowstorm, its
disks complained mightily. Fearful that I would not be able to recover
the data, I refrained from booting the system for several days.
It turns out that the disks, while old, will still function. However,
I am taking this little warning to heart. Sometime soon, I hope to
replace the disks on this machine, make a few other minor upgrades,
and load a new version of the OS. At that time, a short loss of service
(this one preceded by some warning, however) will ensue.
