Your contributions to decyphering the introduction to CK have been
helpful. The new interpretation of several lines makes much more sense now,
in the usual Okrandian fashion, reusing material he developed in TKD or the
movies. I'm still very uncertain about the last word in the fourth line. Here
is the whole of it so far:
tujqu'choH QuQ [The engine is overheating. (example TKD page 170)]
lughoS chaH [They approach, they follow it, they go away from it.]
chay' jura' [What are your orders? (example TKD page 170)]
Quv vaghvatlh baH'egh (maHegh? sounds like vaHergh) [Coordinates 500 mmphsf.
(Maybe Okrand was making up some new unit of measure than the kellicam?) Amy
suggested that it was two voices (doesn't sound like it to me) and that one
said {qu'vatlh}, but it was Okrand's voice and there was no glottal stop in
the middle of it -- not his style, and the second voice said {vaj maHegh}.
This does not fit the context very well, and listening closely it really does
not sound right. The line makes more sense in context beginning with {Quv
vaghvatlh} followed by some unit of measure (angle, distance, whatever). The
two remaining syllables sound like either a {v} or {b} followed by an almost
certain {a} (though possibly a slightly missed quick {I} or even {e})
followed by {gh} or {H}, possibly followed by a glottal stop or not, followed
by a probable {e} but possible {I}, followed by {rgh}, {gh} or {H}. I REALLY
TRIED A LOT OF TIMES TO FIGURE THIS OUT.]
cha yIghuS [Prepare torpedoes. (ST1)]
So'wI' yIchu'Ha' [Disengage the cloaking device! (ST3)]
baH [Fire! (ST1, ST3, ST6, TKD 7.1, page 72)]
bIjeghbe'chugh vaj bIHegh [Surrender or die! (TKD page 170)]
tlhIngan maH [We are Klingons. (As if we couldn't figure that out.)]
