I apologize in advance for the lateness of some of my comments. I
ahve been having problems off-line, and had to put Hol'e' on the back-burner
for a while.
A few comments:
First, would the person who did the translations on Aesop's Fables please send
to me the English version of their story with the man, his wife, and the
Ha'DIbaH (chicken?) they owned. I was unable to comprehend the last few lines
of the text as part of the story you started.
To the person who spammed my mailbox with the translated "Much Ado About
Nothing", and the person who translated President Lincoln's famous speech: I
have not gotten to either of these yet, but I look forward to it, as I don't
know much of either.
To the person who suggested the Shakespear project: COUNT ME IN!!!!! {{:) I
would like to state some things, though: I have tried a number of times in
the past to do literal translations in a specific meter, and in a specific
rhyme. This is not only exceedingly difficult, but *almost* down-right
impossible. I am not saying that it cannot be done, but I AM saying that
there probably isn't ANYONE, HoD Qanqor quv included, who can do it for
something they create off the top of their head. To attempt to get a literal
translation of something in English, with the same meter, AND rhyme it...
well, I think you are asking a bit much, and that at some point, you will have
to choose between a literal translation, and the meter/rhyme. However, it
will be interesting to see what turns up. I have good copies of 4 of
Shakespeare's works at home (Don't recall which four off-hand), and am more
than delighted to offer to help with them!
To the person who commented on my "tlhvD": Yes, it should be "tlhwD". On one
place, though, the first person I mentioned it to commented on us being called
"twids", so I altered it. I boo-booed putting that version here, since no one
here, would ever call a tlhIngan a "twid". :)
I can't think of anythine else right now. Hopefully, the next time I have
something to say, it will be a bit more important, or at least be in Hol'e'.
