I find that the canonical form of Klingon is CV(C(C)), or, if
you prefer, CV|CVC|CVCC, where CC is restricted to rgh, w', and
y'. Cases of CVCVC etc. appear to be loanwords (viz reghuluS)
or compounds the original components of which have become 
obsolete and unused. Historical linguists may well ponder
"why only rgh, w' and y' as final CC?" and attempt internal
reconstruction. Myself, who once dabbled into reconstruction,
I see the task as hopeless. What we need to discover is a 
Klingon tribe who speaks a markedly eccentric dialect.
Now, if the Klingons who built the Face on Mars have left
any extensive written documents, we might be in business
soon!
