To return to the apparent ambiguity between {Qov HoD} meaning:-
(1) Qov's captain, if he is lower in rank than a captain.
(2) Captain Qov, if he is a captain
Can {Qov HoD} also mean "the captain of the ship that Qov is riding on"?, i=
f Qov is higher rank than a captain (e.g. Qov is an admiral or a king).
{Qov 'oHbogh HoD} would mean "the captain, who is Qov", and would mean spec=
ifically (2).
Presumably rank names are in a special class and can be used in apposition =
as in {Qov HoD}.
In the Turkic languages, as in Klingon, "my", "you", etc are suffixes added=
to a noun, e.g. Turkish
[cam=C4=B1] =3D "mosque", [cam=C4=B1s=C4=B1] =3D "his mosque". And in Turki=
sh, [Mehmet cam=C4=B1s=C4=B1] =3D "Mehmet his mosque" =3D "Mehmet's mosque"=
.
(Compare former literary British English spellings such as "St.James his pa=
rk" for "St.James's park".)
Thus {Qov HoDDaj} =3D "Qov, his captain" may specifically mean "Qov's capta=
in", but would be non-Okrandian.
