Hello!

Basic description: occasional compiling hiccups after upgrade from 486/133
to Soyo 5ehm + K6-2/300. Running RH 4.2.

The previous kernel (2.0.30), compiled with my old 486, seemed to work OK
right after the upgrade. Then I tried to compile a new krnl from the same
tree, and I ran into stop-causing errors (in 'make dep' and 'make
zimage'). I finally managed to make one if I deselect optimization --
i.e., compiling for 386. Is this reasonable?

(I'm using this new kernel right now, so it seems to work.)

Also, I get a lot of "PCI device unknown" errors at boot-up (which I
didn't get before; I did have a 486 PCI + ISA mb). Is that something to be
concerned with?

Thank you
