I can help you with the rpm part of this at least... Just type rpm -ivh
xscreensaver-3.03-1.src.rpm to get the source code installed. Once it's in
though, your going to have to compile it. There can be some problems using
rpm, as far as dependencies, but rpm will tell you what your missing so you
can fix anything that needs it as well. As far as the compiling, look for a
README file of some kind in the directory rpm puts the source in and give it
a good look. It should be as simple as typing make in the same directory...
