Perhaps the PS/2 mouse is still enabled in the BIOS? I have two settings
in my BIOS for the built-in PS/2 port, enabled and automatic. If I select
enabled, the PS/2 port is automatically configured and takes the IRQ. If
I select automatic, it is only "turned on" if I have a PS/2 mouse
connected.
