You can cut a block one line at a time with multiple <ctrl-k>'s and then
yank it
back with one <ctrl-y>.

I am not sure of your key-bindings ... but on my machine I hit <ctrl-2> (I
believe it is
supposed to be <ctrl-@> but <ctrl-2> also works.) and that 'sets the mark'
and then
move to the end of the block and hit <ctrl-w> to cut the block or <meta-w>
to copy the
block and then you can yank it back with <ctrl-y>.  This is all explained in
the tutorial of
emacs which is built in... just type "<ctrl-h> t".

Not sure if you ment the help 'info' screens or the tutorial.... take a look
at the tutorial if
you haven't.
