I am trying to learn how to use EMACS (using Redhat 5.0 and no X-windows).
One of the things that I find frustrating is doing Cut and Paste operations.

I figured out how to use <CTRL-K> and <CTRL-Y> to cut and paste a line. But
how can I easily mark, cut and paste a block?

In DO$ EDIT I can hold down the shift key and use the cursor to mark, then
do a <CTRL-X> to cut and a <CTRL-V> to paste. Is there an equivalent set of
commands in EMACS?

TIA,
Dave

PS. Yes I did read the help in EMACS but I still could not figure it out...
