I recently put a new modem in my Redhat 5.1 - 2.0.35 machine. It was ISA
Plug and Play modem and I needed to use pnpdump and edit the config file to
get this support from the dump in there. I then added a setserial line in
one of the rc.d files to configure the modem and it works great.
Let me know if you need more details.
P.S. I used the /dev/modem device which is linked to the correct tty device.
