I don't believe so.
Every 3c509b-combo card I have installed has been defaulted to the RJ45
port.

To check (and reset) the ports the best thing to use IMO is the DOS
install/config disk which you can download from http://www.3com.com in their
support section.
Linux has a utility called 3c5x9util (I think) that should also do the job
but as I have never used it YMMV.
