It's a winmodem. All PCI modems are winmodems
as far as we have seen in the last 3 months on
this mailing list.
Trade it in for an external or ISA modem that
has jumpers to disable PlugAndPlay and set
the COM port it uses. Be sure it says
"Not a Winmodem" or "Supports DOS and OS/2"
on the box. The DOS in W95 does not count,
it has to be naked DOS with no windows in sight.
