Don,

  There are several blocks of IP addresses available for internal networks.
I -- and several of the local folks here -- use 10.0.0.1 through 10.0.0.n
where n is the number of machines you have networked (in my case, 4,
including the subnotebook). The netmask is 255.0.0.0.
