Are you familiar with lpc? If not, try "man lpc."

I recently had a problem with some jobs printing multiple copies, and "lpc
clean all" fixed it.

Also, are you using the laserjet 4, or the laserjet 4,5,6 driver? I have a
4Mplus on my network, and I haven't had any problems printing to it from
Linus (RH 5.1/5.2) but, then again, I'm only printing text. I am using PCL
codes, though, and haven't had any problems. (Also note that I'm not using
SMB to print across an NT server, I'm printing direct to the HP JetDirect
servers on my network.)
