Hi folks !!

I am newbie in the Linux world, installed RH 5.1 couple of months ago, =
but still working on it !.

I need some extra help and encouragement from the "experts".

I found out, just recently, that I don't have PPP on my kernel. I have 3 =
short questions on the matter if you dont mind :

1. RH support has been very kind to me for the time being, but finally =
said that they do not cover ppp issues, only installation !!. Isn't ppp =
in the kernel supposed to be a part of the installation ??, well anyhow, =
let's go to the next one;

2. Well, they recommended me the following :=20

"PPP should be in the kernel, you can try the latest from
ftp.redhat.com/redhat/redhat-5.2/i386/RedHat/RPMS"

What do they want me to try ?? ...Does it mean :

 I just download WHAT ?? from that site ?? a new  kernel ?, ( I have not =
being able to use the "old one" ?? or a ppp, or what ??,
After I download whatever they mean what do I do with it ??, is it as =
easy as just copying the file on a particular directory (whichone?) =
doing a rpm with some switches (which switches ??) ??.

It took several weeks to me to put X windows into work, and now I am =
afraid if I "upgrade" do I need to worry about configuring my whole =
system again ??.

3. Given that I do not have ppp installed means no internet with my =
Linux machine so far, it means, when I download such files, I do it via =
a Win ftp, is it OK just to then copy it to a for example floppy and =
then from the floppy a mcopy to the appropiate directory on Linux ??.

Thanks you all for your patience ,

Orlando=20
