1. Could the 16MB memory problem be something set in the
computer's BIOS? Some did have that feature.
"Hole in memory at 16mb"
"Memory limited to 16MB"
Perhaps a setting NT knows to ignore, and Linux doesn't yet.
2. RH5.2 comes with kernel 2.0.36 which handles memory a
little differently. It no longer needs to be 'told' to use all the
memory when there is more than 64MB in the machine.
Maybe this kernel will magically fix your 16mb problem, or
shed light on it.
3. You probably tried append="mem=64M" in
/etc/lilo.conf
did it have an effect?
