Definitely, DO NOT do this. This will blow away your old kernel.
You can move the old kernel out of the way safely, like "mv vmlinux
vmlinux.old" or "mv zImage zImage.old", and then say
"rpm -ivh kernel-2.0.35-2.i386.rpm." You should then check /etc/lilo.conf
and edit it to make both your old and new kernels possible boot options.
Check out "man lilo."
