You say "sticky". Does this mean they are gooey with spilled gunk, or
does it mean they are "sticking", i.e., jamming, i.e., not moving freely
when struck for (possibly) some other reason? some keyboards (and I've
seen this on ancient Compaq keyboards) just don't seem to be made right.
I don't know if it's clearances/tolerances, inappropriate materials, or
what, but on some keyboards the keys just won't move smoothly. The only
solution for one of those keyboards is a sledge hammer and a replacement
good quality keyboard (not another one of those cheap $9.95 keyboards so
common even on brand-name systems, not to mention the cheap clones). If
that is the case, here's a couple of URLs for places that claim to have
good ones. The first points to information from a company that claims to
be making the equivalent of the old Northgate omnikey keyboards:
