to add my $0.02, running sndconfig caused a few errors for me.  the
/etc/conf.modules file was written almost correctly, though.

I just edited out the '-k' from the two lines generated and from that
point on sound has worked flawlessly.

I'm using a SB16, and my /etc/conf.modules looks like this:

alias sound sb
options sb io=0x220 irq=5 dma=1,5
alias midi opl3
options opl3 io=0x388
--
