Make a file called "This-Drive-Not-Mounted" and place it in the
/mnt/cdrom and /mnt/floppy (or where ever you mount from).
As the file says, if you cd to that dir and see the file it's not
mounted. If the drive is mounted, you will see the contents of the drive
not the file.
Nice and simple.
