Subject: patched boot disk for RH5.2 Inspiron PCMCIA install
Hi,
I've made a patched boot disk to allow RH5.2 network installs off a PCMCIA
card on a card-bus based Inspiron 3000. The original boot.img that comes
with RH5.2 fails to probe the card bus properly. The patched boot.img can
be found at:
ftp://ftp.cz3.nus.edu.sg/redhat/patches/boot-inspiron.img
and the 1-line patch to misc/src/install/pcmcia-probing/pcmcia-probe.c:
ftp://ftp.cz3.nus.edu.sg/redhat/patches/pcmcia.patch
Now my inspiron3000 installs off the network! 8]

p/s:
to the RH guys: the LILO installation during the install process has
problems. Seems like if it finds more than 1 DOS partition, it will write
in ALL the dos partitiions into lilo.conf and the LILO install fails--I
had to c-a-d to reboot and fix lilo.conf manually.
