no-one seems to be telling you how to setup samba to use encrypted
passwords. I have not done this, can point you to
/usr/doc/samba-1.9.18p7/docs and suggest reading
Passwords.txt
Win95.txt
WinNT.txt (Win98 should behave like this )
security_level.txt
