Everything seems to be nice and perfect with the connection scripts and
everything but what I am thinking that it might not be Linux at all. Some time
ago my firend installed Linux and NT on a clean system. The modem was
configured for com2. For some reason Win NT recognized it as being in com3 and
it could dial and connect fine with it. Linux however recognized the modem in
com2 (where it should be) but when you tried to dial you would have weird
problems like sometimes a huge lag between the command and the modem dialing
sometimges not dialing at all and when it connected the speed was slower than
snail-mail. Puting the modem in com4 salved all the probs. You might want to
try puting it in another port it might just solve the prob.
If it dont work mind giving the command or script you using to connect.
